How Much Is a Maine Coon Kitten?
A Maine Coon kitten from Kats Kits is $700. A $200 deposit reserves the kitten you choose, and the balance is paid before your kitten goes home at 10 weeks.
This page sets out exactly what you pay, what the price includes, how the deposit works and what travel involves, so there are no surprises.
Kats Kits Kitten Prices
Every kitten on the available kittens page is a pet kitten, raised in Kat's home in Farmington and ready to go home at 10 weeks. The figures on the right are the whole price: there is no extra charge for papers, vaccinations or the health guarantee.
The only cost on top is travel, if your kitten is coming to you, and Kat quotes that for your route before you pay anything. See how kittens travel.

What the Price Includes
- Two rounds of the FVRCP kitten vaccine, given at about 6 to 8 weeks and 9 to 10 weeks, against feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia.
- A negative FeLV and FIV test before your kitten leaves.
- A written health guarantee. Your own vet checks the kitten within 72 hours; if it is unwell, Kat takes it back and treats it or replaces it.
- Registration papers, sent once your vet confirms the spay or neuter.
- Parents that are DNA tested. See health tests.
- Ten weeks of care in Kat's home: handled every day and used to family life before it leaves.
The last FVRCP booster and the rabies vaccine are due at around 12 to 16 weeks, after your kitten comes home, and your own vet will schedule them.
How the Deposit Works
A $200 deposit reserves one particular kitten. Once it is paid, that kitten is yours and comes off the available list.
- It is not refundable. The deposit is returned only if Kat cancels the sale, so ask every question you have before you pay it.
- It holds one kitten. Choosing a different kitten later is treated as a new sale, though Kat can make exceptions.
- Stay in touch. Kat needs to hear from you in the 30 days before go-home day to arrange the handover and the final payment.
- The balance of $500 is paid before your kitten leaves.
The full terms are in the kitten contract. To reserve, get in touch with Kat.
What Travel Costs
Travel depends on where you live and how your kitten gets to you, so Kat quotes it for your route rather than setting one price. The options are:
- Meeting at the airport. Kat can meet you at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International (MSP), about 30 minutes from Farmington. You can fly in and carry your kitten home in the cabin.
- Delivery by Kat within about an hour of Farmington.
- A flight nanny, who flies with your kitten in the cabin and hands it to you at your airport.
- Airline cargo, on routes where airlines carry pets.
- Ground transport by a pet transport driver.
Distance, the method you choose and the time of year all affect the cost. How kittens travel explains each option in full, and the state pages cover the journey from where you live.
Why Maine Coon Kittens Cost What They Do
Across the US, Maine Coon kittens from registered breeders are commonly priced from around $700 to $2,000 or more. The price reflects what goes into a kitten before it leaves:
- Registered parents, kept, fed and cared for all year, not just when there is a litter.
- Vet care: vaccinations, FeLV and FIV testing and DNA testing of the parents.
- Time. Ten weeks of feeding, cleaning and daily handling, which is what turns a kitten into a confident pet.
- Registration and the paperwork that proves a kitten is a purebred Maine Coon.
Kittens sold with breeding rights or for the show ring usually cost more than pet kittens. Kats Kits kittens are pets and go home on a spay or neuter agreement.
The Cost of Owning a Maine Coon
The kitten is the first cost, not the last. Budget for good, high-protein food (Maine Coons are big eaters), plenty of litter, the remaining vaccinations, the spay or neuter, yearly vet checks, pet insurance if you want it, and the kit a big cat needs: a large litter box, a tall, heavy cat tree and a good brush.

When the Price Is Too Good to Be True
Maine Coon kittens advertised near you for $300 or $450 are rarely what they seem. Very cheap listings are often mixed breeds, kittens with no papers or vet care, or scams that take a deposit for a kitten that does not exist. Before you pay any breeder anything:
- Look the cattery up on the registry's own website. Kats Kits is on the ACFA Maine Coon breeder list.
- Talk to the breeder on the phone or a video call, with the kitten in view.
- Get the price, the deposit terms and the health guarantee in writing.
- Never pay with gift cards, cryptocurrency or a wire transfer to someone you cannot verify.
Questions About Prices
How do I reserve a kitten?
Call or email Kat and tell her which kitten you like and a little about your home. A $200 deposit then holds that kitten for you, and the balance is paid before your kitten leaves.
How much is a Maine Coon kitten from Kats Kits?
$700 for a pet kitten, male or female. Travel, if your kitten is coming to you, is quoted separately.
Is the deposit refundable?
No. The deposit is refunded only if Kat cancels the sale, so she is happy to answer every question before you pay it.
Can I move my deposit to a different kitten?
Not usually. A deposit holds one particular kitten, and choosing another is treated as a separate sale, though Kat can make exceptions.
What does the price of a kitten include?
Two rounds of the FVRCP kitten vaccine, a negative FeLV and FIV test, a written health guarantee, and registration papers once your vet confirms the spay or neuter. Every kitten is raised in Kat's home until it is ten weeks old.
Why are some Maine Coon kittens advertised for $300?
A purebred Maine Coon kitten from a registered breeder rarely costs that little. Very cheap listings are often mixed breeds, kittens without papers or health checks, or scams that ask for a deposit on a kitten that does not exist. Check the breeder on the registry's own website and talk to them before you pay anything.
How much does it cost to get a kitten to me?
It depends on where you live and how your kitten travels. Kat quotes travel for your route, so you know the full cost before you pay the deposit.
