About Kat Doring and Kats Kits
Kats Kits is a small Maine Coon cattery run by Kat Doring from her home in Farmington, Minnesota, just south of the Twin Cities. Every kitten is born and raised in the house, and Kat has been doing it since the mid-2000s.

Kat
Kat Doring has bred cats in Farmington, in Dakota County south of the Twin Cities, since the mid-2000s. Kats Kits began as a small cattery dedicated to raising healthy kittens, and that is still the whole idea.
Kats Kits is listed on the American Cat Fanciers Association's Maine Coon breeder list, and cats from the cattery have earned Champion and Grand Champion titles in the show ring.
Kat raises every litter in her home and stays in touch after the kittens leave. As she has always put it: every kitten has a special place in the family, and when one goes, a piece of her heart goes with it.
For many years Kats Kits bred Birmans alongside its Maine Coons. Today Kat breeds Maine Coons only.
What Kats Kits Stands For
Raised at home
Litters grow up in the house, not in a kennel building, handled every day and used to people, noise and other cats long before they leave.

Two rounds of FVRCP vaccine, a negative FeLV and FIV test, DNA tested parents and a written health guarantee for every kitten.
Terms in writing
The price, the deposit rules and the guarantee are published, so you know where you stand before you pay. See the prices page.
A registered cattery
Kats Kits is on the ACFA Maine Coon breeder list, and cats from the cattery have earned Champion and Grand Champion titles.
Indoor, loved homes
Kittens go to indoor homes, are not declawed without the breeder's approval, and are spayed or neutered by nine months. It is in the kitten contract.
Kept in touch
Kat asks every family to send a photo once their kitten has settled in, and she is always happy to answer a question later on.
How the Kittens Are Raised
Litters grow up indoors with the family, with cat trees to climb and plenty of play. By ten weeks they are used to being handled, to household noise and to other cats, which makes the move to a new home far easier.
Before a kitten leaves it has had two rounds of the FVRCP vaccine and tested negative for FeLV and FIV, and the parents are DNA tested. Every kitten goes home with a written health guarantee, set out in the kitten contract.
Kittens leave at ten weeks. Kat delivers within about an hour of Farmington and can meet you at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International (MSP), about 30 minutes away. Further away, a kitten travels with a flight nanny, as airline cargo or by ground transport. How kittens travel explains each option, and the state pages cover the journey from where you live.

What Kat Asks of New Families
A Kats Kits kitten comes with promises from Kat, and a few in return. They are all in the kitten contract:
- A vet check within 72 hours of bringing your kitten home. It starts the health guarantee.
- An indoor home. Kats Kits kittens are not to run free outdoors.
- No declawing without Kat's approval. Your vet can suggest alternatives such as regular trims and nail caps.
- A spay or neuter before nine months. Registration papers follow once your vet confirms it.
- Staying in touch. Kat needs to hear from you in the 30 days before go-home day, and she would love a photo once your kitten has settled in.
What Is the ACFA?
The American Cat Fanciers Association, founded in 1955, is one of the cat registries in the United States. It records pedigrees, runs cat shows and publishes lists of breeders for each breed. Kats Kits is on its Maine Coon breeder list, under Kat Doring in Farmington.
Checking a breeder on the registry's own website, rather than through a link the seller sends you, is one of the simplest ways to avoid a kitten scam. It is worth doing whoever you buy from. More checks are on the kittens near me page.
